Disputes among the faithful about who to exclude and who to
include in worship and ritual is a negation of the message of inclusion, openness
and welcome that characterises not only the community founded by Jesus but the
direct call of the prophet in this chapter of Isaiah. All are called into
fellowship; all are welcome; all have a place; all must be listened to and
engaged. This is the only way to rebuild the broken churches across the globe.
This verse is cited by Jesus in his confrontation with the
money-exchangers in the Temple (e.g. Mark 11)
